Missouri Canoe and Floaters Association Has Excellent Meeting

March 15, 2007

Paddlesports Industry Association executive director Matt Menashes recently returned from an excellent conference hosted by the Missouri Canoe and Floaters Association (MCFA) in Springfield, MO. MCFA is the trade association for the industry in the State of Missouri and has approximately 80 members.

The annual meeting in Springfield attracts about 40-50 of the association's member companies for education sessions and a small trade show. MCFA members attended presentations by the head of the state's conservation department and its water patrol, as well as sessions on stream bank erosion, an update from the Paddlesports Industry Association, updates from insurance providers, and more.

Keynote speaker Dr. Oz Hawksley, a founding member of American Whitewater, presented a history of floating (canoeing) in the state. MCFA President Gene Maggard of Akers Ferry Canoe Rental was pleased with the turnout, and particularly pleased with the new vendors who exhibited at the show. One new vendor, Can-coctions, who makes clip-on beverage holders for canoes and kayaks, is a brand new company formed by four women from one family. Their new product seemed to be a particular hit for attendees. Can-coctions is also a new member of the Paddlesports Industry Association. Other vendors including Nova Craft Canoe, Wenonah Canoe, Osagian Canoes, Perception, Star Inflatables, Buffalo Canoes, Paddlesports Warehouse, Gattuso Distributing, East-West Printing, Byrne Enterprises, and more.

"The MCFA really does a great job with their event. I encourage other Paddlesports Industry Association members in this region of the country to attend MCFA's show next year," said Matt Menashes. "I'm particularly impressed with the work of Pat Sutcliffe and Michelle Lambeth. MCFA works well because of the hard work those two put in organizing this event."

Can-coctions.com Announces Launch of New Website offering the Can-panion® Clip-on Beverage Holder for Canoes and Kayaks

Can-coctions, LLC (www.can-coctions.com) recently announced the launch of its Web site, which offers the Can-panion® clip-on beverage holder originally designed for Canoes and Kayaks, can also fit onto Jon Boats, Chairs, Ladders, Pontoon boats, Hunting Tree Stands and other objects. The Can-panion® has a unique stiff coil clip that stretches which makes it tight and stable while holding a beverage.

The site was founded on the principle that every outdoorsman needed an affordable beverage holder that would easily attach and detach directly to their boat for their river and lake trips.

"Our family canoes every summer and we always needed a place to set our beverages during our river float trips. After years of our water bottles rolling around on the bottom of our canoes, we decided to create the Can-panion® to help us and everyone that Canoes or Kayaks down the river.," Owner Siobhan White said. "I believe the unique design of our product will clip onto your boat and free up your hands for a pleasurable and relaxing river trip. The fact that the Can-panion® can clip onto other objects as well, is a great bonus.”

Can-coctions, LLC are supporters of the Missouri Race for the Rivers and the CR100 River Race in Texas resulting in great responses from organizations and racers. One customer wrote, “We love these beverage holders. These are exactly what our marriage needed. My husband likes to race canoes so I would never canoe with him. I just wanted to relax, enjoy the scenery, have a picnic and now we can. Now we can relax, put my beverage in the holder and keep paddling. Anyway, we love your product.”

The company has promoted their product door-to-door as well as sporting booth shows and online contacts, resulting in the Can-panion® available in over 90 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

The online web site offers the Can-panion® beverage holder in many different colors (black, red, orange, yellow, blue and pink) giving customers and retail locations a choice of their favorite team or logo colors.
